Lash Lift & Tint
Lash lifting and tinting is one of my favourite treatments and that is mainly because I like a no fuss approach to beauty. I’ve always said Lash Lift’s are your classic lazy girl treatment, you get to look like you’ve got mascara on and look a bit more alive when you wake up in the mornings with just one 1hr appointment every 6-8 weeks. It couldn’t be any easier then that!
Lash lifting was formally known as Eyelash Perming, and for years before I did my training in the treatment, I couldn’t quite understand what the difference was between the two. We all have horror stories when it comes to beauty treatments and mine all originate from when I did my training at Chichester College all those years ago. One of those stories is a lash perming one, combining an inexperienced beauty therapist in training, with poor products and improper application led to me having eyelashes that curled so far back on themselves they practically did a full loop and the dryness, oh boy, the damage to my natural lashes were devastating. From that point on, I refused to let anyone near my lashes again.
Fast forward 7 years or so, and I am working in a salon in Chichester and the buzz of lash lifting starts building through out the industry. I was adamant that lash lifting and lash perming were the same thing until a beauty therapist friend who was trained in the new ways convinced me to try it once more. She reassured me that times had changed and products had evolved; long gone were the sizzled and fried lashes, the sticky lash rods and overly strong perming solution and in came proper care and thought for your natural lash health.
Sticky lash rods had been replaced for more subtle silicone shields, the perming solution was changed to be a more appropriate strength for your lash hairs and hydration solutions had been introduce to replace any moisture lost during the treatment.
Having had the treatment, experiencing the results and watching them over the course of 6 weeks, I was hooked. Being able to wake up in the morning with lashes that looked like I had mascara on, making these hooded, baggy eyes of mine appear more ‘lifted’ and saving those precious 5 minutes of snoozing time was all I needed for this treatment to become my all time favourite.
Below are some before and after photos of some of the many lash lifts I do, its a highly popular treatment in the summer, for those going on holiday and wanting to jump in and out of the pool without having panda eyes or for those who find eyelash extensions to high maintenance but still want to perk up their eyes.
Lash lifting includes a tint which I always apply to the bottom lashes, unless told otherwise by the client, and tints can come in a variety of colours. Blue black is the most popular as it is the darkest of all tints, but for my ultra blonde or red head girls, brown is a nice alternate to giving you the natural look.
